New Videos - Lay 1 Brick
Two years since I made a blog post… Let’s get this thing rolling again!
Yes I still take pictures and yes I still make movies. In fact, I just released two new movies.
The first of those movies is the start of a vlog series. Lay 1 brick was the inspiration. I got the idea from a Struthless video - The drawing advice that changed my life.
“One day you write a song. The next day you write a poem. And then the third day you do a drawing. And none of it adds up to anything. All you’re doing is laying a single brick of a million different houses and expecting that one day it’ll magically become a mansion.”
That one hit hard for me. I find myself constantly jumping from photography, to film making, to building bicycles, to anything else that can occupy my brain. So with that advice, I shifted to mainly focusing on making movies. I have a sticky note taped to my monitor that says, “make the same movie everyday.” I haven’t fully committed to this concept but I have committed more time to making a bunch of mini movies and combining those to create a larger movie. Hence, my new vlog series. It will be a five episode series but for now, here is episode one!
To continue my focus on making movies, I recently rented a studio space. I love it! I finally have a space that is just mine. A space I can escape to and make whatever I want. And no one will hear me, see me, or realize I made something. It’s creative freedom. So with that, I’ve been working on a new style of movie - one that I really enjoy making and one that I feel like I’m suppose to create.
I think of these movies like songs - short, personal and full of emotion. I love this new concept and that’s how I know I’m heading in the right direction. Even if only 20 people see these movies, I enjoy them. And that’s all the matter, right?
Anyways, July Days is a short recap of recent moments in life. I hope you like it! And stay tuned for more videos.
